In December of 2005 Tark had a double knee replacement. He went through ReHab with a breeze and was doing just fine.
Then, just 2-1/2 years later he’s in a wheel chair and seriously ill.
He did get to walk again. . .at least for awhile. . .we’re grateful.
Never take your health for granted.
Here is his journey with this surgery. // created at http://animoto.com

Lately I've been having knee and ankle pain. Is there any supplements I can take to prevent this? I already take multi-vitamins and I'm a pretty healthy/active person.
Any suggestions would help 'cause I'm not sure even where to start searching for info! ^-^
i heard fish oil is really good for joints…something about the omega fats that lubricate your joints and keeps them from hurting.

I'm having knee surgery on the Friday befoer Halloween, I need ideas on a costume.
I will be in crutches, or cast, I really dont want to be mummy, I'm looking for some creative ideas.
I was so going to say Dr Scott from Rocky Horror before the Q beat me >(. LOL, Dr Scott is an excellent idea *but can you get fishnet stockings over the cast..lol*
If you can use crutches, you could be an injured football player..just need a jersey and helmet
Good luck with the sur!!

After suffering bad knee and hip pain for over 2 years and an athroscopy and lateral release on my right knee the NHS have finally diagnosed osteoarthritis in both knees, both hips, my right hand and various other parts of my body.
Last week I had a gel injection (Duralone) in each knee and there has been an improvement in mobility and definitely much less pain. I have now been out on my bike for the last 4 days with no problems.
I am in my late 40's and have a background of long distance running and cycling - I was doing around 300 miles a week on the bike until the problems began.
I do not want to compete in the future but I do want to get into shape again. How do I put back on the muscle I've lost and lose the lard I've gained without doing myself further damage?
avoid running except in a pool or in the sea as the impact is too high
cycling is fine - let your pain limit you as needed
management of oesteoarthritis is made better the more you exercise - I suggest light weights in the gym for your upper body twice a week, a pilates sessions to help flexibility once a week, ride your bike, swim or jog in the water another 2-3 times a week but only to the point of pain - work through discomfort but stop with pain
after your workouts ice your joints for 10 mins
in the morning warm them up with a warm bean bag etc
the more you keep at it the better the management

I have a prolapsed mitral valve and consistantly skipped heart beats! Im skeptical of having such a deep serious related surgery and Im concerned of a thrombosis or such being thrown. I have seen this happen to patients in the OR. Im a rad tech and im older. should i try to avoid with all possibilities a knee replacement?
have you tried cortisone injections and or synvisc injections?
