when will i be able to move or bend my knee? i just recently took off my cast from arthroscopic knee surgery?
i was in a cast for 24 days after my arthroscopic knee surgery and its been a day, and i can barely move it an inch. it feels very tight on the knee and extremely weak. is it normal?what can i do to help. is time the key factor for me?? any help or input appreciated.
That's a long time for the joint to be immobile. You'll have lost a LOT of muscle to atrophy. It's unlikely that they'd have taken the cast off if you weren't supposed to be trying to move it. It's just going to take time. Go slow, bending it a little bit more each day. Depending on what exactly they were doing through the scope, you may have scar tissue built up that has to be loosened up. It would probably be a good idea for you to work with a physical therapist to try to get your flexibility and strength back. It's going to be a long, difficult, and likely painful process.

you need to start moving it no matter how much it hurts. your muscles and tendons are stiff and they need to loosen up.

Several knee injuries including a couple surgeries, one of which was practically a total rebuild. I found working with a physical therapist very helpful, they have the best toys (electro-stim, ultrasound) for helping with your rehab.
