What type of doctor can help me with knee pain when running?

January 28th, 2009 by admin

Who can evaluate my running form and help me with my knee pain? Also, if I am wearing the correct running shoes. I have tried the running specialty stores and it worked out well, still having knee pain, would like a doctor to have a look. thanks

I would suggest a doctor specializing in sport medicine. If there is not one in your area, then try an orthopedist.

Maybe you should see the foot doctor. A podiatrist can evaluate your feet. You might overpronate. This can cause runner’s knee. A podiatrist can make a mold of your foot so you get perfect orthotics to insert into your shoes. My wife has to wear them and they have worked miracles for her.

I’m going to my family doctor to get a referral to a sport medicine doctor–for me, that’s the only way I can get in–most of these doctors need a referral and you can’t just walk in.
