Has anyone experienced more knee pain after having a cortisone shot?

January 24th, 2009 by admin

I had surgery about a year ago for an ACL tear, i went to the doctor for recent pain, I was given a cortisone shot and now my knee hurts worse than before! Has anyone else had this happen?

I’ve had cortisone shots put in my knee, but it never hurt worse than before, sometimes didn’t do much good. The Doctor who gave you the shot may have injected it and not got far enough in, or missed altogether. I quit taking those shots because they linger in your body for a long time and the side effects are not worth it. Ice packs or moist heat does me more good than the shots. Even topical pain creams are better, like Aspercreme. You can try this pressure point exercise that also helps. Has anybody ever grabbed your leg and squeezed just above the knee to make you laugh? That’s a good pressure point, just above the knee cap and back a little, squeeze on both sides and hold for as long as you can, then move to below the knee cap and squeeze there also. Helps my pain. For moist heat, just take a towel and soak it with hot water, ring it out and then wrap it around your knee. Do this at least four or five times, then again once or twice more through the day. After each use, rub the entire knee with Aspercreme. You can even use temporarily, a knee support to help the pain. Wishing you the very best young lady and hope your pain leaves you soon. Good luck.

I have heard people say they experienced this problem. Never personally.
Be sure to tell your doctor - this is something he needs to know. There may be something else you can try.

I’ve had two knee surgeries. I have even went down to Birmingham, AL to see Dr Andrews. Ive taken every pain killer known to man. I have a friend who advised me to take a 100% natural supplement. Check it out
