Where are the cheapest vegetarian Glucosamine supplements available?

January 12th, 2009 by admin

My mum is a vegetarian and so can not take the normal Glucosamine supplements (with fish oils etc) but we have found an vegetarian alternative in Boots the chemist but they are very expensive. Are there any cheaper alternatives anywhere (maybe on the internet)? Also, she is taking these for joint pain problems, has taking Glucosamine helped anyone else with similar problems? Lastly (!) the pain that she has is in her knees and also in her feet which makes it difficult for her to sit on the floor or move around quickly. Are there any gentle exercises that anyone could suggest? Thanks!

sorry,no idea!

Help!!Knee and ankle pain from working out.?

January 10th, 2009 by admin

I've recently started exercising to lose weight for an upcoming vacation. I've been running 5 times per week. Recently I've noticed that my knees and ankles hurt/ache when I walk. The pain becomes more sever when I run. I've taken it easy this past week. I've taken 5 days off hoping it would clear up. Do I need a supplement? I'm only 24 years old…this shouldn't be happening, right? Help me!!

The only "normal" pains from running should be from your quads, hamstrings, and calves. In other words, muscles since those are usually building up doing exercising.

Any knee or ankle pain should be looked at immediately. It could be damage to the meniscus or cartilages. Muscle pains usually subside within days. But joint pains are constant until it's properly tended to. So have it examined by a doctor quickly and I hope you feel better soon.

TK Elbow Bands Pull Up Demo 1 - Explosive Pulls

January 9th, 2009 by admin

http://www.intafitness.com.au . Mr. Inta-Fitness demos the great TK Elbow Bands to protect & support the elbows when weight training.

Here I am doing an explosive grip swap pull-up (some not so explosive :-)) & I use the TK Bands to provide warmth & support to my elbows. They keep the joint super warm and prevent tendonitis on the inside & outside of the elbow. I used to suffer tendonitis in both elbows due to lots of pulling exercises & spotting but now I have no problems at all. I simply could not train without these now (hence my rather rubbery appearence - knee bands, waist bands & elbow bands) I have not had an overuse injury in 2 years and I used to be in chronic pain all the time. I LOVE these TK Bands.

I twisted my knee about 35 years ago and never had it properly repaired.?

January 8th, 2009 by admin

I sometimes get swelling on the side of my knee and occasional pain. Will a supplement like Joint Juice, Move Free, etc help with alleviating this condition?

If any kind of suppliment will make a difference it will be MSM and also a chelate that has magnesium, potassium and magensium in it. I dont know your medical history like if you have smoked or eaten or drank products that deplete your system of minerals… that would be able to let you know how long it would take to work. If your healthy other than your knee it would take a few weeks to see change, if your not the suppliments could take months to work. Also you have to stretch… and im talking serious stretching like for an hour at a time stretch sessions that are completely dedicated to your legs and lower back. For stretching I would do lower body yoga.

I know, I know, your going to say "man Im just not flexible at all". Well you have to start from some where or you go no where. Pretty simple. Its never to late to become flexible and flexibility is the key to good health.

If you have the money for a some acupuncture sessions I would also do that . Make sure you go to a real acupuncturist and not some chiropractor that took some classes so he could make some extra money.

I wouldnt waste my money on all those juices though. I dont care what they say there is just no way you can tell me something that is in a bottle that was juiced who knows when will still be good. Health juices are usually only good for about 7 minutes after they are squeezed … like a grass shot… the time on that one is about 1 minute then its not good for you.

I have worked with over 20,000 people with tight backs and tight limbs and the stretching works if you do it. Just remember to breath and dont hold your breath.

If you need any more help just email me and I will give more pointers if needed.

Are ‘calmag’ calcium+magnesium &Glucosamine hcl with boswella -AMWAY products good for relieving knee pain?

January 6th, 2009 by admin

calmag: a food supplement withcalcium carbonate,magnesium oxide,microcrystalline cellulose,alfalfa concentrate,acacia,maltodextrin,sodiumcarboxymethylecellulose,hydroxypropyl methylcellulose,magnesium stearate,glycerin,hydrogenated cotton seed oil

It depends on what type of knee pain you have. My brother had knee pains all the time and he is all about organic products so I bought the Nutrilite Glucosamine and Nutrilite Cal Mag D for him. Within a couple of weeks, he noticed less pain so know, he rearly has any pain. Nutrilite is high quality vitamins and supplements for sure. The site that I found to get them was Arcameda.com. Hope this helps.

TK Elbow Bands Demo 2 - Weighted Dumbell Pull Ups

January 5th, 2009 by admin

http://www.intafitness.com.au . Mr. Inta-Fitness demos the great TK Elbow Bands to protect & support the elbows when weight training.

Here I am doing a dumbbell weighted pull up with 17.5 kgs DB between my feet (I weigh 71kg so this is an extra 25 % over my body weight I am pulling up). I use the TK Bands (black supports on my elbows) to provide warmth & support to my elbows. How to Avoid Knee Replacement Surgery?

January 4th, 2009 by admin

I JUST started having trouble with my knees 9 months ago. I was wearing some bad shoes….hadn't been getting exercise, gained weight and fell into a stairway, hitting a knee on the edge of a step.
I limped for a few weeks. Got orthopedic shoes, which seemed to hhelp. I tried taking Glucosomine Chondroitin and Aleve. The doctors say that I have torn cartilige in both knees and advanced osteoarthritis in both knees. He said that both knees will have to be replaced in 5 years.

I am only 53 years old and NEVER had knee pain before last November when I had that little fall in the stairway.

It doesn't seem right.

How can I avoid knee surgery? Can exercise and weight loss help much? Can supplements help to rebuild the cartiige?

Do any of the steroid or Synvisc shots help?

What can I do to improve my knee, joint health…..What really works?

Wow, I know that knee problems are no fun. Here is a great web site where you can find TONS of great info and post questions to people who are in a similar spot- better than this place.

Guinness World Record for the Longest Wall Sit (THIENNA)

January 3rd, 2009 by admin

Skin Care Author Wins Guinness World Record for Longest Wall Sit
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — Dr. Thienna Ho, founder of Thienna, Inc., a skin care company that focuses on health, is no stranger to setting world records. She is the current Guinness World Records’ holder for the most sumo squats in one hour. And, on Saturday, December 20, she completed yet another world record - the longest wall sit. Dr. Thienna’s record-setting time was 11 hours, 51 minutes, and 14 seconds; the event took place at World Team USA Gymnasium in San Francisco.

The former Guinness World Records’ holder for the longest wall sit was Rajkumar Chakraborty at 11 hours and five minutes; this record was set at Panposh Sports Hostel, Rourkela, India, on April 22, 1994.

Dr. Thienna was inspired to set this record in honor of her mother, who passed away from dermatomyosis, an autoimmune disease, after three years of struggle.

“My mother was confined to her bed for almost three years,” Dr. Thienna says. “I remember her telling me that she would often dream of going outside to walk around. What better way to honor her memory than by dedicating a physical feat of this capacity to her?”

Dr. Thienna explains that while the wall sit was a great physical challenge, the process of not being able to move for almost 12 hours was even greater.

“I now have a better understanding of what my mother went through in the sense of being confined. I could not have been confined for three years like she was,” Dr. Thienna says.

During the record-setting experience, approximately seven hours into the wall sit, a few blisters appeared on Dr. Thienna’s feet. The skin on her back also started to burn from moving up and down on the wall.

All in all, she felt she was quite lucky and the pain was minimal.

“Maybe I’m resistant to lactic-acid buildup; I don’t know,” she says, “but, I do know that I had no knee, joint or back pain.”

An hour away from breaking the record, Dr. Thienna explains that her body felt like it was falling asleep or even somewhat paralyzed from the waist down.

“My mother was my inspiration and I could feel her cheering me on the whole time,” Dr. Thienna adds. “I am so glad I was able to set this record and appreciate all the support I received from friends and family.”

She is currently awaiting official notification from Guinness World Records.

About Dr. Thienna

Dr. Thienna is the top expert in the area of skin care nutrition and human skin color. She is a seven time award-winning author of “Unlocking the Mystery of Skin Color.”

Her company, Thienna, Inc., is a one-of-a-kind, science-based developer, manufacturer, and marketer of the FAIRSKIN line of natural nutritional supplements and organic skin care products.

In December 2007, Dr. Thienna was named the Guinness World Records’ greatest super-sumo squatter; she achieved an incredible 5,135 of these muscle-burners in just one hour.

Dr. Thienna is also scheduled to release “The Amazing Clear Skin Cookbook” during the first quarter of 2009.
